Locating palpating and needling the calf and lower leg
I was at the FSOMA conference With ASE Seminars this past weekend. This Is always a fun weekend and it’s a really great conference. I absolutely recommend going.
This year we openly talked about dry needling. There was definitely some pushback and a good number of practitioners are still very hurt by the words and get upset when they hear them.
The thing is, if dry needling is Acupuncture, then we need to own it. We need to let everyone know that we’re the best, and they should go to us for it. If we refuse to use the words, then we concede dry needling to the physical therapists, and we support their argument that what we do is somehow different.
What we need to do is continue to band together and support our profession. We need to support the associations looking to protect and expand our scope of practice. We need to continue to hone our skills and be the best we can be. As I’ve been working with ASE Seminars and different State associations including Connecticut, Michigan, ...
Do you have dry needling on your website? You should. Dry needling is becoming a vey popular search term for Google. Patients will call and ask for it. Patients woll seek you out if you offer it.
Here is just the latest patient request.
Does this mean you’ll only use dry needling on the patient? No. You’ll use any other techniques and go through your exam the same. But the patient is asking for dry needling because one of two reasons. They had a friend their family member have it and it helped them a lot, or they’ve had it and it helped them a lot.
